'American Dream ™' rose Reviews & Comments

I was pleasantly surprised with American Dream this season. A second-year own root rose, it bloomed prolifically for its size. The blooms aren't huge, but the color is a deep non-fading red. The same flowers have lasted for nearly three weeks in cooler temps without visible degrading of any kind. All the flowers so far have been on long stems, always one per. I can see it would be a great florist's rose.

American Dream is a decent garden rose for us. AD isn't cane hardy and spring growth is slow. It is usually one of the last to bloom in spring. There are usually a dozen to 20 blooms per flush and turnaround time is about 6 to 7 weeks. Bloom form and color are usually pretty good but fragrance is mild at best. It gets 4 feet tall and 3 ft wide (at the most). AD never has more than a few canes and might be better with more protection or in a warmer zone. Rio Samba and Eclipse on either side of it do fine with a few inches of mulch so that is what AD will continue to get. Blooms do have good vase life and Deb likes combining them with very fragrant blooms. Blackspot is not a problem here. American Dream does get powdery mildew if conditions are right and I don't have time to wash the roses. Dave South central Montana - zone 4/5 |

This is my 2nd question today, because I wanted to send an up close picture of the stamen also. I'm trying to find out what kind of rose this is and thought it might be the American Dream.

I am wondering if this is American Dream? Several Photos attached. I measured the bloom and fully open it is 4 1/2" across. The bloom in the picture had 20 pedals.
