Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in before 1921 as 'General-Superior Arnold Janssen'.

Bloom:
Carmine-red.  Strong fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Dense.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Vigorous.  
Notes:
Arnold Janssen, founder and first superior-general of the Society of the Divine Word. Born 5 November 1837 in Goch, Germany. Died 15 January 1909 at Steyl, Holland.
