Bred by Jones (1888) (United States, circa 1888). Bred by Dingee & Conard (United States, 1891).
Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1897 as 'Golden Gate'.

Tea.  
Bloom:
Cream, pink shading, golden-yellow center, light pink edges.  Moderate fragrance.  Very large, full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, cupped, globular bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Thornless (or almost), upright.  Light green foliage.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).

Notes:
Named for the entrance to San Francisco Bay and the gold rush.
