Arbustes d'une vigueur extraordinaire, très résistants aux froids. Rameaux droits, armés de nombreux aiguillons gros et crochus; feuillage ample, folioles oblongues dentelées; floraison abondante, le plus souvent en corymbe, le bouton entouré de sépales foliacés, verts, longs et dentelés, fleurs variant du rose au rouge vif, sans coloris foncés, fruits très allonges, rappelant ceux du R. de Damas, dont ce groupe est probablement issu.

.. Quelque temps après on lança Comtesse de Serenye (Lacharme a écrit Serényi), en 1873 (Lacharme). .. La rose de Lacharme est très double et ne s'ouvre mal qu'en saison sèche et froide. En 1893, je n'ai pas obtenu une seule fleur. La couleur est pèche rosée claire, les pétales minces comme tissu, mais très nombreux et rapidement abîmés par l'eau ; c'est occasionnellement une rose magnifique.

Hybrid Perpetuals
Comtesse de Serenye (Lacharme, 1874). — Of fair growth and foliage, rather liable to mildew, and easily spoiled by rain. A very free bloomer and good autumnal. This is a Rose with awkward manners, for it has great possibilities and can be very fine when it chooses, but it is one of the "coarse" varieties, too full in petal, in regard to which the stronger you grow them the worse they are. On a maiden growth, especially if the buds be thinned, the survivor will often be a most unsightly object, and indeed it is very seldom that a large bloom will come without distorted shape; but on the side-shoots of a cut-back in a dry autumn flowers of a beautiful "globular imbricated" shape may be got, of good lasting qualities.
