Leonard Hollis.  Modern Roses.
....The form of the modern bloom is too varied for the pronouncement of any sweeping generalisations. Some varieties containing pernetiana blood, and also a few others, produce a globular, loosely-built bloom, short in the petal, and therefore low-centred.  The Queen Alexandra Rose, Catalonia, Duchess of Atholl and Portadown Bedder are examples of what I mean.

of Atholl, Duchess (HT) Dobbie 1927; bright deep orange, shaded light old rose, large, double, cup form, solitary, lasting, floriferous, globular deep bronze buds, long upright stems, continuous bloom, fragrance 6/10, growth 6/10, upright. Sangerhausen

Duchess of Athol H. T. (Dobbie, 1928) The coloring of this rose when open is like that of a beautifully ripened peach. The large, globular buds are bronzy orange; the thick-petalled, double flowers of apricot and gold flushed with rose are borne in great profusion. Foliage is dark bronzy green and remarkably mildew-proof. We like it very much.

DUCHESS OF ATHOLL. (H.T.) Raised by Messrs. DOBBIE & CO., Edinburgh. This lovely H.T. received an award at the Summer Show of last year, but it was not found possible to include it in last year's Rose Annual. It is a very fine Rose of a most vivid shade of orange, shot with old rose colour. The blooms are very freely produced on stiff upright stems, while the foliage is handsome and leathery, and free of Mildew. Sweetly scented. It is a Rose of good constitution and should be greatly in demand for bedding purposes. In commerce.
