Mauve or mauve blend Centifolia.Registration name: The Bishop
Centifolia, Gallica / Provins.
Mauve or purple blend. Strong fragrance. Average diameter 2". Large, very double, flat, rosette bloom form. Once-blooming spring or summer.
Height of 39" to 5' 11" (100 to 180 cm). Width of up to 3' (up to 90 cm).
USDA zone 4b through 9b. Drought resistant. shade tolerant. Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood.. Prune after flowering is finished.
Some sources list it as a Centifolia, some as a Gallica. (See References). Probably a number of different, but similar roses. 'Pourpre belle violette' and 'Manteau pourpre' were similar, but less full roses.
