Bred by Adam Paul (United Kingdom, before 1847).
Introduced in United Kingdom by A. Paul & Son in 1853 as 'Vivid'.
Class:
Bourbon, Cl., Hybrid Bourbon.  
Bloom:
Crimson, darker center.  Strong fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals) bloom form.  Spring or summer flush with scattered later bloom.  
Habit:
Climbing.  
Height of up to 9' 10" (up to 300 cm).  Width of 3' to 6' (90 to 185 cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 2b through 4a.  Can be used for pillar.  Very vigorous.
