Bred by Joseph Pernet-Ducher (France, before 1919).
Introduced in France by Grandes Roseraies du Val de la Loire in 1919 as 'Capitaine Georges Dessirier'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1921 as 'Capitaine Georges Dessirier'.
Class:
Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Purple, crimson shading, red shading.  Strong fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, globular bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Bushy, well-branched.  Dark green foliage.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).
