Bred by Rev. Joseph Hardwick Pemberton (United Kingdom, before 1927).
Introduced in United Kingdom by J & A Bentall /Brokenback Roses in 1930 as 'Althea'.

Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Carmine-red.  Strong, damask fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals) bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Large, long, pointed buds.  
Habit:
Bushy, upright.  Leathery foliage.  

Height: up to 28" (up to 70cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 9b.  Hardy.
