Bred by Gilbert Nabonnand (1828-1903) (France, 1899).
Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1903 as 'Général Galliéni'.

Bloom:
Red, dark red shading, golden-yellow center.  Tea fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals), cupped bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Well-branched.  

Height: 35" to 6'7" (90 to 200cm).  Width: 2' to 5'11" (60 to 180cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Joseph Simon Galliéni, Marshal of France, born at Saint-Réat in Haute-Garonne 24 April 1849. Died at Versailles 27 March 1916. Created a Marshal of France posthumously 21 April 1921.
