Lady Blanche....There appears to be some Rosa multiflora influence as well. For many years 'Lady Blanche' was thought to be extinct then Vernon Brown of Massachusetts found several plants at privates homes in Wood's Hole near Michael Walsh's former home and work place....They are carried profusely in small clusters on a bushy plant of only about 6 feet, unlike the usual very vigorous Walsh ramblers.  According to the breeder, there should be some repeat blooming in the fall.

p183, We grow two other white varieties,Lady Blanche and 'Alberic Barbier', the former bred in America and the latter in France. 'Lady Blanche' is a delightful rose, fragrant, with shining bright green foliage and open, ruffled flowers showing yellow stamens. When we saw it first growing on a steep hillside in the Thames district in association with several forms of R. moschata it looked a picture. The masses of pure white flowers on the low training stems made the ground appear, at a distance, as if it had been liberally sprinkled with snow. In autumn 'Lady Blanche' produces a fine crop of bright red heps. Three years ago we put in cuttings of this rose at the foot of a twelve-foot fence; it is now a large, healthy plant, well clothed with foliage from the base upwards, and it flowers almost as well as it did on that rocky hillside.

p184. 'White Dorothy' is not a pure white like the lovely Lady Blanche, since the blooms are often tinged with pink; nor is its flower as finely formed.....

Lady Blanche, a white Walsh rambler no longer in the trade, does have quite an autumn show of flowers. Does it set seed?

Instead of the mildewing 'Mrs. M. H. Walsh', which is in reality a trailer and not a Climber, there are several other whites. Lady Blanche or 'Snowdrift' are better double whites.
