Bred by Gerald Adriaan Van Rossem (Netherlands, 1922).
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1924 as 'General Smuts'.
Class:
Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Cherry-red, coral-red shading, yellow highlights.  Moderate fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles, upright.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Vigorous.
