'Restless'. Hybrid Tea. Bred by Clark in Australia and introduced in 1938, this rose is not grown much outside of Australia and New Zealand. It bears strongly fragrant, semi-double, flat, deep crimson-purple flowers with great continuity. The flowers are followed by attractive red hips. Foliage is mid-green and matt and the growth is vigorous, free-flowering, disease-resistant and tall, easily reaching 3m (10ft) or more with a spread of 2m (7ft). (Parentage unknown). Zones 6-9

ROSE SHOW.
Mr Alister Clark, the President of the Society, and the well known breeder of roses, including Sunny South, had the most promising seedling not in commerce, which he has named Lorna Anderson. He distributed numerous cuttings of a new red variety, Restless, and declared that it was his ambition to paint the gardens of Australia by proxy.

The autumn rose show conducted by the National Rose Society of Victoria will be held today in the Melbourne Town Hall…..The society’s president (Mr. Alister Clark) will again make a display from his beautiful garden, Glenara, at Bulla….. Mr. Clark will also make available to visitors to the show cuttings from one of his seedlings which he has named ‘Restless’. It is a very strong growing red variety and blooms in clusters and lasts exceptionally well when cut. It flowers all the year round. The supply will be limited.
