Introduced in Canada by Agriculture Canada, Ottawa, Ontario (Central Experimental Farm) in 1986 as 'J.P. Connell'.

Shrub.  Explorer Series Collection.  
Bloom:
Yellow.  Strong fragrance.  50 petals.  Double (17-25 petals) bloom form.  Occasional repeat later in the season.  
Habit:
Height of 5' (150 cm).  Width of 4' (120 cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 2b and warmer.  Very hardy.  Disease susceptibility: susceptible to blackspot .  
Ploidy:
Tetraploid
Notes:
Dr. Felicitas Svejda describes the parentage as: ‘Arthur Bell’ x open pollinated seedling of ‘Von Scharnhorst’ [Elliott]

David Zlesak reports that 'J. P. Connell' is triploid.
