Purchased two black Bacarra roses from an online seller in Oct. Both arrived in February and are growing beautifully. Another arriving in June. Worth the wait.

I purchased one of these a couple of months ago -- bare root and online. It was mailed to me with the roots dangling, wet, and, unfortunately detached in a plastic bag. I planted it anyway hoping that the dangling roots left would thrive despite the real chances being as slight as my chance of voting against my own interests in the upcoming presidential election. Well, this morning I walked into the garden and found that despite my best efforts to prune the growing blackened canes, the rose's decaying canes are spreading with the breadth of Hurricane Sandy. So, I ordered another one from a more "reputable" firm, which should arrive in June. I am impatient, though, and do not believe in waiting almost a year for a black rose. With climate change, how am I to know that black roses will not be blue by June? If you're courageous enough to mail/sale me one before then, let me know.

Purchased as a band plant from Heirloom June 2011. This has been a pretty solid performer for me. I've never had any major disease problems, despite living on the gulf coast and it blooms decently enough. Height is about four feet. I do not love the flowers though. Yes they are velvety, and yes it looks interesting just before the flower fully opens, but NO it does not hold that form at all. Yes, the flowers last on the bush forever, but they're sort of ugly when they do so. No scent.

Mar 2013- This plant has left my garden. If I don't like the flowers, there's no reason at all to keep the plant.
