This rose has the same parents as most of my miniatures : June Laver x Rubies 'n' Pearls. I have kept this rose "on the shelf" so to speak, as I was too, too busy introducing many other varieties. I have always called this mini my "Burned Orange"
My friend Brad Jalbert, the owner of Select Roses Nursery really likes this rose for it's colour as he was looking for an orange mini to introduce.
Here is what Brad wrote for the description :
I've been asking my hybridizing mentor George Mander, to breed a compact growing deep orange rose for years. Finally he's brought this outstanding new seedling of his out of hiding! The colour is the most remarkable deep burnt orange with heavy substance and excellent form, typical of all Mander bred roses. Foliage is a beautiful deep glossy green setting of the shimmering blooms to perfection. It grows compact and sturdy to about 14 inches tall. I think this is one of the prettiest orange roses for borders or containers. Even people that don't typical go for orange flowers, will be drawn to the beauty of this rose.
Here another report about this rose from a rose-friend in Palm Springs, CA :
One of the problems in having such an outrageous number of roses is that it's absolutely impossible for me to keep up with everything going on.
I'm quite impressed with this rose and one of the things that I find so attractive about it is that it's very beautiful at virtually all stages of bloom, even through the open bloom stage. I'd rate it very highly.
I have about five thousand roses in my yard, so when a rose like “Mander's Orange Dream” stands out, you know it has to be impressive.
