HMF Ratings:

Origin:
Bred by George Mander (Canada, 2005).
Class:
Mini-Flora, Patio.
Bloom:
Purple and red.  Mild fragrance.  25 to 35 petals.  Average diameter 3".  Medium, in small clusters, classic hybrid tea, exhibition, high-centered bloom form.  Continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season.
Habit:
Medium, bushy.  Medium, semi-glossy, dark green foliage.

Height: 2' to 30" (60 to 75cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 2b through 8b.  Can be used for beds and borders, container rose, cut flower, exhibition, garden, hedge or rock garden.  Very hardy.  Remove spent blooms to encourage re-bloom.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.
Breeder's notes:
It took12 years of trial & error, trying to get a "PURPLE/GOLD" colour seedling. The Purple-red colour varies in different weather conditions.
This seedling survived minus 12 to 14 degr C (about 10 F) for several nights unprotected in a 2 gallon pot. Many other varieties in 2 gall pots did not survive.

More photos & information about this rose at a later date, as I budded several new plants and also made some own root cuttings which will bloom in 2005.
Note added in fall 2007 :
The first bloom, as you see in the photos, had a nice golden reverse, but in the last two years "ALL" budded and own-root plants tested, only gave me a cream reverse. It was disappointing alright, but now I will use this variety as seed and pollen parent. As always, if nature does not cooperate it's 99 percent luck and 1 percent planning.
