Marechal Niel:- Is still one of the good yellows if grown well, but to get the best results it likes a morning sun position sheltered from the strong winds and ratehr a clay soil.

The Old Roses
So much do we think of the Good Old Roses, growing more popular each year in spite of their antiquity, that we list them here by themselves.  Many of these are no longer in commerce but, recognizing their merits as well as their rich associations, we grow more of them each year.  We love and respect them.
Marechal Neil [sic] Climbing Noisette (1864)  Often called the "finest yellow rose in the world" but cannot be successfully grown in some inland localities.  Strong grower and abundant bloomer; flowers of deep golden shade, extremely fragrant.  ...  $1.00

Noisette Roses
We offer here a selection of this old and very beautiful class of Roses, mostly of climbing habit, although a few of the older bushy type are included. The flowers are usually of the much-desired yellow and coppery shades and are uniformly fragrant. Recommended to our southern friends.
Maréchal Niel. (Pradel, 1864.) Lovely buds and flowers of deep golden yellow; double and extremely fragrant. Strong growth and abundant bloom, but not freely recurrent.
Long known as the finest yellow Rose in the world; a model of beauty and fragrance. Does well in greenhouses in the North. Succeeds with ordinary care in climates to which it is adapted.
