'Michel Trudeau' rose Description

Deep pink, white streaks, silver(y) reverse. Strong fragrance. Average diameter 5". Large, single to semi-double, cluster-flowered, in small clusters bloom form. Continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season. Long buds.
Medium, armed with thorns / prickles, upright. Medium, matte, medium green, wrinkled (rugose) foliage.
Height of up to 47" (up to 120 cm). Width of up to 35" (up to 90 cm).
USDA zone 2a through 9b. Can be used for garden, hedge, landscape or shrub. Very hardy. vigorous. can be grown as a shrub.
Description: Long pointed reddish-pink buds open to large, very fragrant, double deep pink flowers
with yellow stamens and white splashed in the centre; silvery-pink undersides. Medium sized shrub with
disease resistant, glaucous-green foliage and prickly stems. New growth has red veining and reddish stems. Spectacular plum-red Fall foliage and large red hips. Wonderful grown as a shrub, in borders or as a hedge.

Named in memory of the youngest son of the late Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau and his ex-wife Margaret. He was killed by an avalanche in British Columbia's Kokanee Mountains on November 13/1998 at the age of 23. (Paul Olsen)
