Bred by Walter Schowalter (Canada, circa 1961).

Hybrid Gallica.  

Rose-red, white stripes, yellow stamens.  Double (17-25 petals), cupped-to-flat bloom form.  

USDA zone 3b and warmer.  Hardy.  

O.P. George Will, very likely by Alika. bush gallica type, not over 4 feet tall, no hardier than Alika. Stems fine, with a few small, hooked prickles, nice, fairly glossy leaves. Leaflet 7 - 9. Flowers more double than Alika, of better form, and a deeper, brighter red, 2 3/4". No seed. Blooms once. Overshadowed by Marshall roses.
