'Apple Blossom'. Breeder: Jackson Dawson, 1890 United States.  Parentage: 'Dawson' x Rosa multiflora.  Class: hybrid multiflora (rambler).   This is a rose blooming once in a massive display. The flowers are rosy pink, semi-double and carried in small to medium clusters.  The plant has very vigorous shrubby growth to 15 or 16 feet (4.5 to 5 meters).  This is the 'Apple Blossom' most often seen and the one often wrongly attributed to Burbank.

In 1890, Dawson produced another multiflora hybrid, ‘Appleblossom’, still in cultivation. Its flowers are semi-double, pink with a white center, and have ruffled petals

'Apple Blossom' (Dawson) Rambler. (Hybrid multiflora) No rebloom. Moderate fragrance. Habit -No. 5. Dawson, 1890. Provenance: Beales. Semi-double blush pink flowers with a white eye, fragrant and prolific, this is a very vigorous Rambler that blooms late in the season. We received this from Europe as Burbank's 'Apple Blossom', but believe it to correspond to the Jackson Dawson 'Apple Blossom' ....
