'Forty Heroes' rose References
(2007)

Bailey Nurseries rose variety chosen to honor the crew and passengers of United Flight 93.
St. Paul, Minn. (Spring 2007) - Bailey Nurseries is honored to announce the inclusion of its "Forty Heroes" rose in the "Remember Me" Rose Garden collection. "Remember Me" Rose Garden is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating three gardens, one each in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania, to honor the memory and spirit of each man, woman and child who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
"Forty Heroes" is an own root rose that features large clusters of deep-yellow blooms. The flowers open to a beautiful hybrid tea form, bursting with a fresh, fruity fragrance. Intense green foliage provides the perfect backdrop to highlight the golden blooms. Strong canes and an upright habit make it a standout rose in any garden.
"Forty Heroes" possess all the qualities master hybridizer Ping Lim looks for in a rose: superior disease resistance, beauty and fragrance. This rose has survived many years of rigorous testing, or what Bailey Nurseries experts call "Ping's tough love." There are no chemicals used in the breeding or evaluation programs, absolutely none. This process also includes purposely inviting diseases. Any roses that show signs of problems are quickly eliminated well before you see them. As a result, Forty Heroes is highly resistant to blackspot and mildew.
Lim and Bailey Nurseries are honored to be part of the "Remember Me" Rose Garden effort. "I feel this rose exemplifies the strength, courage and beauty of the passengers of United Flight 93," says Lim. "They are the true heroes, and we feel privileged to pay tribute to them."
Look for "Forty Heroes" Rose at better garden centers nationwide beginning spring of 2008. A donation from the sale of each "Forty Heroes" rose bush will be made to the "Remember Me" Rose Garden Maintenance Fund to finance the care of the three gardens in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Shanksville, PA.
