Breeder's notes:
Joan Monteith received OP seeds of Jens Munk from Dr. Henry Kuska. Seeds were treated chemically to induce chromosome doubling. Testing of the pollen, leaves and root tips of one seedling that was dramatically different from the other seedlings showed that Rugosa #3 might be partially converted with the roots being diploid and the top part of the plant being tetraploid. Seeds from Rugosa #3 are twice the normal size for rugosa seeds and the leaves are much larger than typical rugosa plants. It will set some openly pollinated hips.
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Ploidy:
Tetraploid
Notes:
There is a possibility that the parentage is openly pollinated Therese Bauer instead of Jens Munk.
