Hayden Foulds. Pick of the Bunch. 'Aotearoa' (Macgenev) - Fragrance Award and Certificate of Merit 1990. The official rose of NZ's 150th celebrations in 1990 which set the standard for fragrance in roses. Super fragrant and while many fragrant roses can struggle, this one consistently performs well although I would have liked more blooms in the autumn. Now imparting its fragrance through breeding programs worldwide.

Stuart Pinfold. ....there are another group of roses which are 'softies' - those which probably should be termed fine weather friends. Among these I would place 'Aotearoa NZ'..... while many of these are fine subjects and very beautiful in certain respects, they do not, in my view, stand up to bad weather very well.
