Breeder's notes:
"‘RUBRIFOLIA x WOODSII’ - Wishing to produce a hardier Rosa rubrifolia and with an eye toward climbers, I took pollen from a 12 ft. R. woodsii I found in the wild and placed it on R. rubrifolia stigmas. Of the resultant seedlings only one had the rubrifolia colouring and it was even better than that of its mother. Attractive bush 10 ft. tall. Makes a few suckers. Root gall wasps are 'attracted' to it." (Walter Schowalter's comments courtesy of Margit Schowalter)
