Bred by Jean Laffay (France, circa 1841).
Class:
Hybrid China, Hybrid Gallica.  
Bloom:
Deep pink, purple mottling.  Moderate fragrance.  Small to medium, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, cupped bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles.  Large, light green foliage.  

Height: 5' (150cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 8b.
