Gallica / Provins.  
Dark purple.  Medium, semi-double (9-16 petals) bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  
USDA zone 6b and warmer.

'Aigle noir' is stated as a synonym of 'Maheca nova'. However, it would be unusual that 'Aigle noir double', the version with double blooms would have been bred before the original 'Aigle noir' with semi-double blooms.
