Eric Timewell. Olive Fitzharding's Warrawee: ....first the bride herself, christened Olive Prudence Fitzhardinge, had already received a rose: 'Prudence', a strongly scented Neyron-pink climber. One would love to see it. John Nieuwesteeg is said to have a rose of that colour which he tentatively identifies as Mrs. Fitzhardinge's daughter's rose.

Shirley Wills, Orange Group. The Roses from Warrawee. On a recent National Trust trip to the Monaro I met a niece of Mrs. H. C. Fitzhardinge. Mentioning my interest in Heritage roses and particularly the influence of women breeders in what appears to be a very male dominated occupation, I was told the daughter of Mrs. Fitzhardinge, a Mrs. Jean Dean, was now ninety six and living in Sydney. Modern technology with gene manipulation is with us but the simple details of yesteryear may be of interest to Heritage members. Following is Jean’s letter: .... Trevor Nottle: From Charles Walker, Auburn, Alabama, USA comes the following information gleaned from Modern Roses 5, 6 & 7. Roses bred by Mrs. H. C. Fitzhardinge of Warrawee, NSW. So far as is known all are HTs: 'Prudence' (1938) and .... introduced locally by Hazelwoods Nursery, Epping, NSW. Can anyone provide biographical details on this little known Australian breeder.
