Bred by Richard Bagg (United States, 1908).
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in before 1911 as 'W. R. Smith'.

Light pink, darker outer petals, yellow undertones.  Strong fragrance.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Height of 5' to 12' (150 to 365 cm).  Width of 5' (150 cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Notes:
William R. Smith was the first superintendent of the Botanic Gardens in Washington, D.C. who died in 1912. Different opinions on parentage - see References.
'William R. Smith' in commerce in Europe is often 'Marie van Houtte'.
