Breeder's notes:
We had a rose seedling which we liked very much and which we thought was most promising . A lovely shade of pink, hundreds of petals in beautiful concentric circles, and a most elegant way of holding itself . When we were in Japan in 2012 for the Heritage Rose Conference at Sakura, one of the places we were all taken to, as part of the conference tours, was the Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art. . In the Art Gallery we were struck by a painting called ‘Allegory of Spring’ which was actually Venus rising out of the Sea , the famous Botticelli painting. We loved the phrase ‘Allegory of Spring’ and so decided to name this rose with this beautiful evocative name.
This new shrub rose bears exquisite flowers of shell pink . The distinctive petal edges add greatly to the unique charm of this Hybrid gigantea.
