Captain Hayward. (Bennett, 1893.) Scarlet-crimson buds and flowers of exquisite form, not fully double, but very large and fragrant. Plant big and strong, and almost constantly in bloom.
Color fades, but not disagreeably. Dead flowers must be cut to prevent seeding, and it needs food to support its prolonged blooming.
A reliable fall-blooming Hybrid Perpetual.

Captain Hayward (Bennett, 1893): the very large blooms are scarlet-crimson, and somewhat loosely formed when fully open, but are perfect in the half-expanded state. It is extremely fragrant, and usually in flower from the middle of June until killing frost, with the high points about the first of July and the first of October.
