From Wills cigarette cards, Roses – a series of 40 cards. Issued in 1936.
No 14.
GOLDEN DAWN
(Tea)
Introduced 1929
Rich pale yellow.
The blooms are full, well-formed with high pointed centre, produced freely throughout the season. Fragrant. The habit of growth is vigorous and lasting, consequently the shoots require thinning. The foliage is olive-green. A very fine variety for exhibition and general garden purposes. It should be pruned hard the last week in March. At times the blooms are inclined to come with a split centre, but that does not detract from their beauty. In habit, foliage and general character, it is intermediate between the Hybrid Tea and Tea Rose. A product of Australia. Awarded a Gold Medal of the National Rose Society.
