You have done a great job growing this old weakling. The bush form is "miffy" often times, which is why you always see the climber instead. This is one of three roses Philip Robinson permitted me to collect from the rose garden at the old Korbel home at the Korbel Winery all those years ago. Vintage was the only source for it and they seldom offered it. Mrs. Sam, Irish Fireflame and Polly came out in that batch of cuttings.

Kim, I appreciate that information! This is an own-root from Vintage planted in 2011, and this year is the first year it has bloomed. I just LOVE its color, though it opened too quickly in our extreme heat. Maybe it always does--what is your experience?

Much the same. The climbing sport is significantly better as far as flower size, durability, health and bloom production, but it's once flowering.

I've replied in the 'Mrs. Sam McGredy Cl.' file.
