Thanks. My SI is grafted on multiflora from Palatine, which seem to do REALLY well in my acidic clay soil. I’m not sure if it would grow as large own root, but it is a really wonderful rose and I’m glad I have it. :-)

From what I can see, the only place offering it is Palatine, so I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to get it own root. I’m almost certain I saw Schon Ingeborg at the silent auction a few weeks ago. I could be mistaken though. I wonder if that one was ownroot? I should have jumped on it, if it was. I’d love to find one on its own roots, in the hopes that it would stay smaller. Just like you’re experiencing, so many of my roses behave as climbers, and I end up training them laterally. I’d love a nice tidy, compact bush. Did you see the photo by Horst Peters of the 3 compact bushes? It’s on the next HMF photo page from this one. Now THAT’S what I’ talking about! Of course they get winter there and we don’t. I get even less than you do. I’m guessing that has something to do with those nice compact bushes, and maybe those are ownroot. Lisa
