Hi! I noticed you have a donau...I'm desperately searching for one but there isn't anyone selling this. Can you tell me more about it? Is it worth the effort to keep looking? Where did you find her? Are there any other good purples you could recommend? I love your garden- Amazing!

Hi Pamela, I talked to you earlier this year about speaking at our rose society, no, I'm not asking again. Haha. I did see you have the rose Madame Gabriel Luizet, I received this rose last Dec. I have planted it and watched it grow this year although it has not bloomed yet. Would you consider it garden worthy in your opion? Your feedback would sure be appreciated.

Please excuse me. I haven't looked at comments and questions in months! Yes Mme. Gabriel Luziet is a very nice rose. It doesn't rebloom alot but is lovely in the spring.

Can you tell me more about your Goldfinch. We're trying to ID an everbloooming rambler from a greenbelt area of nearby Eureka and also something familiar in Fernbridge. I'll try to upload photos, but the system crashed on first attempt...

My budded Goldfinch grows like a very tall stiff bush. It increases with many basal canes which are a soft green and very stiff. This is no doubt due to the fact that it has a lot of multiflora roses in the background. The buds are yellow and the flowers are symetrically formed, start out yellow and then in a few days end up an ivory shade. It blooms only once in the PNW and has a scent of bananas and oranges ( so the books say). Goldfinch should be grown in partial shade to keep the yellow colour from fading so quickly.

Thank you for your reply. I'm not sure we're talking about the same variety as this one blooms all the time here in coastal Northern California and it's more rambler (limber) in nature, at least on its own roots. I'll have to take a closer look at your photo and compare it to ours. I'll up load one here to see what you think of ours.
Thanks again,
Janet
