[From the article "Die Rose und der Winter" (The rose and winter) by Rudolf Geschwind, p. 371-379:]

What concerns the Hungarian climbing roses, they have endured the frost almost all better than the French ones. As especially hardy have proved themselves: Erinnerung an Brod, Aurelia Liffa, Corporal Johann Nagy, Geschwinds Orden, Aennchen von Tharau (almost the hardiest!) Erlkönig, kleiner Postillon, Fantasca, Amneris, Nymphe Tepla, Schloss Luegg, while the others have suffered more or less. Now some words about the so-called hardy Teas. No true Tea is absolutely hardy.

The newest directory of the company Soupert & Notting comprises 83 sorts of which we have already mentioned a part during the year. Among them are in total only four German cultivars and only two from our Austrian forest warden Geschwind: Charis and Anna Scharsach.
