Rose curculios made their annual appearance within the past week. While hand-picking seems to have greatly reduced their numbers in one group of 5 deep reddisih-purply-violet colored roses, the rose curculios feinted and appeared in great numbers on the opposite side of the garden in different bed of 5 deep reddish-purply-violet colored roses. I must have missed them last year. I am spending almost an hour every day hand-picking. They can fly a bit right now, and if disturbed, they will flutter to the nearest bud of the the same color.
