Hi Mr. Harris!
I'm wondering if you would be willing to share cuttings of Ross Rambler?
Thanks!

I'm not sure how or why this got forwarded to me, but I've never grown Ross Rambler.

Hi Cliff!
Sorry about that! I clicked on the "Gardens" tab on the Ross Rambler page and found Peter Harris' Roses listed as a garden that it's grown in, so I left a comment there. Are you involved with that garden?

That's very impressive for winter, Cliff! I see this rose in nurseries here in Australia as 'Melinda Gainsford' and I had paid no real attention to it but might take a second look if it performs that well in a Californian winter. The foliage looks dense and healthy too!

Of all of the roses I've grown, this is right up there among the most impressive. However, I should stress that this rose is grown on fortuniana rootstock, which has been shown to produce the most vigorous, healthy, robust rose plants here in the desert, where summers are intensely hot. I know that Bob Martin, current President of the American Rose Society, has used this rose in his hybridization activities and speaks highly of it. Visitors to my garden find it hard to believe that it's just one rose plant, given the number of canes and blooms that it seems to have virtually year 'round.

Thank you. It seems to have not too many thorns either. I'll put it on my shortlist!

Cliff - could your rose have been ‘Reine des Violettes’? As ‘Souvenir de Wootton’ was said to be the first American hybrid tea, it is quite an important file and we need to tidy it up. Please see Darrell’s comment of June 7, 2017 in the ‘Souvenir de Wootton’ file. If you agree, you should reassign the photo.

Patricia,
I've deleted the photo as I have no way to know whether the bloom is 'Reine des Violettes' at this point. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
