If your initial impression is that a 400 page paperback field guide to plant galls would be a complete waste of time for a rosarians, you are going to be pleasantly surprised. This field guide is a model for all field guides. The 73 page introduction of plant galls is fascinating yet easy to understand, covering galls caused by everything from soil bacteria, such as crown gall, to mistletoes to leaf and bud galls. The illustrations are clear and easy to understand and the photography simply perfect. Many growths on plants that are common and familiar are actually galls. A good read.
Rose galls make up only a 7 page portion of the whole, but it is possible that every rose gall I've seen is illustrated. Excellent!
