Regarding hardiness, I've grown this for 3 years in zone 5b in New Hampshire and it's doing well so far. It was a free rose band, rated for z 6, but for free I figured it was worth a try. It was tiny to start and slow to establish. I don't winter protect, but being less than a foot high it got pretty good protection from snow cover and there was no cane damage. Now in its third season it's finally putting on some height, looking healthy and pushing out blooms.

Surely 'Karen Poulsen', not 'Ellen Poulsen'...?

This 1932 rose is being shown as bred by Poulsen Roser A/S.
There is a 1934 reference which quotes the breeder as D. T. Poulsen.
I believe this may have been Dines Poulsen 1879-1940, but it may have been bred by his father Dorus Theus Poulsen.
