Auckland Metro... This beautiful white, double hybrid tea blooms in great profusion. "In hot, dry climates, it turns into an ugly yellowy-green ball which refused to open -- avoid it," McGredy [the rose's breeder writes in his book, Sam McGredy's Favourite Roses.]

p30 John Martin. I believe the characteristics of truss formation in such varieties as 'Auckland Metro' and 'New Zealand' is a break-through, giving many more flowers per plant and a greater show in the garden. The influence of these and other roses will be very strong in the new varieties of the 21st century.....

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1991-92 Season.
'Auckland Metro' (MACbucpal); McGredy 1988; ('Seaspray' x 'Dreaming') x 'Ferry Porsche'; creamy white; 27 reports on 40 bushes; 1-4 years; 1 metre; 7.7 rating. Well reported on from most parts of the country this year and most rate it as a very good garden rose and the bloom is best at the full open stage. Bears a big crop of blooms at each flowering but, takes a long time to repeat. Does not stand rain well and is at its best in the warmer weather, has a lovely fragrance.

Don Sheppard. Review of Newer Roses for 1990-91 Season
'Auckland Metro' MACbucpal; McGredy 1989; ('Seaspray' x 'Traumereii') x 'Ferry Porsche'; creamy white; 14 reports on 18 bushes; 1-3 years; 1.1 metres; 7.7 rating. Reports this year come from Kaitaia to Dunedin, but mostly in the North Island. Velvety strong petal texture, good clean colour and fragrance help make this non-classic formed rose a really beautiful fully open bloom. It starts its work in late spring and disbudding can be practised, as most stems carry two or more buds. Most find repeat is rather slow, and often the second flush is not as good as the first. The medium shiny green foliage is a great foil to the blooms. Except in Feilding, where some rust and blackspot occurred, it is very healthy. A recommended rose for garden delight.
