Rosina’ Shortest   Yellow  Remontant   P2    H2   ****
Although  this was raised in about 1935, it was obviously second choice in the raiser's judgement to the more double 'Baby  Gold Star'. With that, and the sequence of wars, it was not introduced until 1951, by  Meilland in France; and by Wheatcroft  in England, using the name  'Josephine Wheatcroft'. It has also been sold as 'Yellow Sweetheart', the breeder's name being considered a little misleading for a yellow rose by speakers of English.    It is a splendid Miniature, with golden yellow flowers which open semi-double, but not before they have exhibited  a pretty Hybrid Tea form in the buds and  young blooms. The proportions of the bush are nearly perfect, the leaves attractive, and just the right colour to agree with the flowers. One of the sights I shall always remember is of Rosina'  one winter day, her leaves rimmed  with white frost, and the yellow flowers above  innocently behaving as if it were full summer. The parents  were 'Eduardo  Toda' x 'Rouletii'.
