I am planning my crosses for my hybridizing activities and am surprised to see no first generation descendants listed. Has anyone tried using it unsuccessfully as either a pollen or seed parent? As nice of a rose as this is it would be nice to pass along its' good qualities to offspring if at all possible.

That Secret is over 10 years old with no descendants would lead me to believe it is sterile. It is fairly common for Hybrid specimens to be sterile. If you have it in your hybridizing plans, by all means give it a go as both seed and pollen parent..perhaps you'll have sucess.

Yikes. The 2 winter storms we had, where the temps suddenly went from 40s to below zero, seems to have totally nuked both 'Secret' and 'Cinnamon Dolce' into blackened nubs. Kind of surprised by the latter rose taking so much damage. Unsure if they will survive. 'Sunshine Daydream' is between both roses, and it was unphased. Its wood is green 2' up to where it was winter pruned before the storms, and the bud eyes are growing already. Not a single cane was freeze damaged.
Edit: Forgot to update this. It was toast. Actually, both were toast. So was Chris Evert in my other garden about 10 miles away. Blueberry Hill and Neptune were almost toast. Took 2 years to recover. This is Zone 8B, but we did go to Zero F, which is very rare.
To contrast, Ebb Tide, Pink Cupcake, Solitaire, and Summer Wind are in the same beds, and they were unphased.
