R. x kamtchatica Vent. (= R. davurica x R. rugosa). Differs from R. rugosa by more slender, less prickly branches, but gray-tomentose and with short bristles; leaflets oblong, dull, fewer wrinkles above, mostly grey-green and hairy beneath; flowers 3-5 on short, bald pedicels, smaller; fruits smaller, globose, smooth, sepals long, inclining. 2n=14 ..(= R. rugosa var. kamtchatica [Vent] Regel). Shrub; plant similar to R.rugosa in pubescence of stem and prickles, bristly stem and more orbicular leaflets; to R.amblyotis in large, broad opposite stipulate prickles, dark-colored, often glabrous stem and smaller flowers (cf. Hulten 1. c). Presumably a hybrid between R. rugosa Thunb. and R. amblyotis C.A.M.
Habitat the same as preceding species [R. rugosa].— Far East: Kamch. Endemic. Described from cultivated specimens from Kamchatka. Type unknown.
Economic importance. Ornamental, often cultivated alongside R. rugosa, for which it is often mistaken.
Note. In the Ussuri territory, there occurs an analogous hybrid between R. rugosa and R. davurica Pall, (oral communication by V. L. Komarov); it has not yet been studied.
