'Kirkcaldie' (MACcloseup) McGredy: 11 Reports. 13 Plants. Garden 5.6, Exhibition 5.2. Medium height. Health 6. I. Fragrance 4.5. Soft Orange. Northland: Been struggling, doing little better than last year. Manawatu: Don't let odd nice bloom fool you. This one is an arch deceiver, HT shape generally, becomes a cabbage past half way. Northland: Healthy rose, not for showing, blooms cabbagey, stems coarse, not impressed. Feilding: Nice colour but split centres spoil it, given a reprieve last year but will go this year. Wairarapa: Good rose, flowers all season, lovely shaped flowers and holds well. Marlborough: Too few flowers, most are disappointing.

'Kirkcaldie' (MACcloseup) McGredy: 11 Reports. 33 Plants. Garden 6.7. Exhibition 6.3. Medium height. Health 6.8. Fragrance 2.9. Salmon pink colour. Northland: shows promise as an exhibition bloom, but a bit cabbagey. Stems may be a bit coarse, can have twisted centres, however a healthy rose. Waikato: not impressed, this is an also ran rose. North Taranaki: huge pink blooms which break in rain and wind, a real show off. Feilding: pretty colour but has too many split centres for exhibiting. May not be here next year. Manawatu: a large HT with 25 petals, a deceiver, poor substance, hates rain. Mar/borough: good exhibition early then seems to cabbage, healthy.

Peter Bamber. Review of the Newer Roses for the 2005-2006 Season.
'Kirkcaldie' (MACcloseup) McGredy: Garden rating 7.0, Exhibition rating 6.9: 9 bushes, 7 reports: Some health problems: Light fragrance: Medium height: Salmon pink colour. Northland - cultivar shows promise. Wairarapa also has first season bush that holds well and is a lovely rose. Feilding says a better rose this year but nothing special. Waikato reports big cabbagey blooms in the spring, more refined in Autumn. Two reporters from Manawatu. One comments on loose form and needs to improve, the other calls it a bit of a deceiver; promises a lot but fails to deliver. For the garden only.

'Kirkcaldie (MACcloseupl McGredy: Garden rating 7.5, Exhibition rating 7.0: 4 reports, 4 bushes: Disease resistant: Light fragrance: Medium height. All report new bushes which are doing well. Three like the salmon pink colour and had huge blooms in the spring. One thought there was room for improvement. I have seen two bushes in Christchurch - one is struggling, the other has had some large blooms and is growing well.
