Origin:
Bred by D.A. Fankhauser (Australia, 1970).
Class:
Hybrid Tea / Large-Flowered.  
Bloom:
Light pink.  Moderate fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, high-centered bloom form.  Continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season.  Large, long, pointed buds.  
Habit:
Compact, upright.  Medium, glossy foliage.  
Height of 5' (150 cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Disease susceptibility: disease resistant.  
Notes:
The colour of 'Marco Polo' is similar to 'Memoriam'.

At the age of 17, Venetian explorer Marco Polo was one of the first Europeans to visit China in 1271. His writings -- most notably Il milione, or as it is known in English, The Travels of Marco Polo -- inspired other people to travel there. Polo was born in Venice, Italy, in 1254. He died there 8 January 1324.
