Origin:
Bred by Jack E. Christensen (United States, 1986).
Class:
Grandiflora, Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Mauve or purple blend.  Strong fragrance.  30 petals.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Height of 30" to 5' (75 to 150 cm).  Width of up to 4' (up to 120 cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 7b and warmer.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.  Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) .  
Notes:
According to the New Zealand Plant Variety Rights (PVR) web page, application for a PVR Grant for this rose was made in 1986 and granted in 1987 (PVR Grant No. 382).
Starlight was removed from the Auckland Regional Botanic Gardens (ARBG) Display Trial because its trial period expired.
