This lighter coloured spray is from the same plant as the other “darker spray” (see first photo), but from another year !

Huge bowl of ‘Shades of Pink’ . It won “Best Exhibit” in Bowls & Baskets at a local rose show. I have counted 580 blooms (not including the tight buds) & about 35 to 40 stems when taken it apart 3 days after the show. The size of the exhibit was 20 “ high and 28 “ across in all directions. The shades of pink varies from plant to plant, and even on the same plant from one year to the next. Sometimes the blooms open pale pink and may go darker with sunshine. Other times it opens dark pink and becomes pale pink to cream colour. It all depends on the weather.

This spray had a record 75 blooms. When blooms started to open it was rainy for days and most blooms were cream coloured with only a touch of pink. Then with four days of hot and sunny weather many blooms started to go to a darker pink. This photo was taken when most blooms were too far gone as you can see on some of the older blooms.

‘Shades of Pink’ produces huge sprays with an average of 40 to 60 blooms each in the first flush. This spray had a total of 60 blooms. The “Record Number’ of blooms per spray on a 3 to 4 year old plant was 120 blooms from a large basal cane. For more information check out the “Rose Info” page on my web site.
