'Ramirez-RXD' rose Description

Bloom:
Deep pink. Its color = rugosa pinky-mauve. It fades to lavender to white.. Small to medium, single to semi-double bloom form.
Breeder's notes:
Dr. Basye wrote one time in an ARS article about making a cross of his probable amphidiploid and R. kordesii-- both rugosa hybrids. I am not sure if he has not done this before he died, but we at least have a good look of what he may have raised. This seedling is very disease resistant, although many of its sister seedlings were very disease prone (about 30 seedlings.) Two were good... I kept one, I gave the other to a friend.
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
This may be a climbing rose. It produces a lot of pollen and it does set hip, but not as heavy as its rugosa ancestors. Some of the blooms looks like exact replicas of Basye's Amphidiploid, while others look similar but have extra petaloids. Very thorny... This rose will not be introduced in commerce, but I would like to share it with some people so that they may hybridize with it. I believe this rose is a tetraploid because both Kordes and Dr. Basye believed that both their plants were tetraploids, which makes me conclude that my seedling is a tetraploid. The foliage looks nothing like rugosa, but they become autumnal like rugosa. This trait didn't come from kordesii, but from Basye's Probable Amphidiploid.
