Introduced in United States by Jackson & Perkins Co. in 1932 as 'Vanguard'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1935 as 'Vanguard'.
Class:
Hybrid Rugosa, Species / Wild.  
Bloom:
Salmon-orange, pink edges.  Strong fragrance.  Medium to large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  
Habit:
Tall, bushy.  Glossy, light green foliage.  
Height of 8' to 10' (245 to 305 cm).  Width of up to 6' (up to 185 cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 9b.  Hardy.  very vigorous.  
Notes:
Susceptible to rust.
